The new rules regarding the transportation of children in cars in Thailand.

The new rules regarding the transportation of children in cars came into effect on August 17.

According to the amendments made to the Road Traffic Law, certified child seats must be used for transporting children up to 6 years old.

Children whose height is less than 135 cm must be fastened with safety belts.
A fine of 2000 baht is imposed for non-compliance with the rules.

For drivers who do not have a child seat, it is allowed to transport children under 6 years old while adhering to 3 rules:
 
1. Children must sit in the back seats of the car. An exception is made for pickup trucks with a small cab; in this case, the child must sit in the front.
 
2. The child must be under the supervision of an adult or must be fastened with the lower part of the safety belt.
 
3. Drivers must drive at a low speed in the far left lane of the road.
