The political parties Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai have announced progress in forming a new coalition government.

During a press conference today, the leaders of the parties, Cholanan Srikaew and Anutin Charnvirakul, disclosed their agreement to combine efforts in creating a government based on at least two conditions:

  • No interfering with Article 112 (lese majeste law)
  • The "Move Forward" party will not be part of the coalition.

At present, both parties hold 212 votes in the lower house — Pheu Thai with 141 deputies and Bhumjaithai with 71. However, as per a joint statement, the coalition aims to secure the support of all parties in the parliament.
